Word Heard at ABS
The familiar flurry of activity and noise is back to campus. Students have returned and are working hard already in their classes. We are excited to see that the ABS House is a popular study hangout for our students, especially the commuters and residents. We are seeing some new faces participating in our Tuesday night praise and worship service. The Lord has blessed us with more opportunities to serve and teach, to make disciples.
Yet there is a greater need for disciples. And thus there is a greater need for laborers in the harvest. We are painfully aware of the erosion of believers among younger generations as well as the number of those within those age brackets who are not only unchristian if not anti-Christian. I would encourage you to read a challenge to us. One of our alumni has written “The New Mission Field” for our website www.absua.org in which the article highlights the shift in more college-age students opting to identify themselves as atheists. This group is only a small portion of those who need to know the truth and love of Jesus Christ. One in five would rather claim to believe in no God, much less believe in Jesus Christ as Savior.
This should trigger alarms that prompt us to check our own efforts to reach the lost young adults and keep the young adults we have. Are we making a real effort to welcome and encourage these? I don’t write this claiming that I have the answers nor that ABS is the best solution either. Love, flexibility, speaking the truth, and patience are key pillars to the bridge over the gap separating the ages.
As you see, we need the prayers as we work this portion of the Lord’s harvest. Just the same, you need prayers for your portion of the Lord’s harvest field. Thank for the prayers and the financial support of this ministry.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)
So we have made it easier for some of you to make donations. For others it may seem harder. We have added a link on the right side of our banner called “Donate.” From there you can find our address for checks or a link to Paypal. But the part to notice is that the mailing address has changed. The vandals won this battle, but the LORD wins the war. We have a PO Box now.
