Word Heard 11-12

Word Heard at ABS

The crisp in the air and the crunch under foot tells us that summer has gone and winter is waiting in the shadows for its turn on the stage.  The college students are laboring to get caught up on homework and projects that will soon be due.  Warren and Brad now have the UofA athletic department to thank for a busier schedule as Razorback basketball season tips off before the football team is done playing games.  But we are thankful for the revenue that some, ministry supporters, and others, Razorback fans, bring to ABS while parking for the games.  Many of these loyal fans have also become seasonal friends of ABS who pray for this ministry all year as well as generously giving above the “parking fee”.

The student leaders are taking a more active role in our Tuesday night worship, The Hedge.  The students have always had the responsibility of the music (seeing neither Warren nor Brad have ability there).  Besides having the band prepared for worship music, Amanda has taken the band on numerous outreach events this semester, from the Clothesline Fair to a couple “concerts” at area churches.  Other leaders among the students have worked together to prepare the meal when Brad would have otherwise done most of the menu and cooking.  And they have taken ownership of a lot of the clean up following the service.  Plus they have taken a turn being the teacher, or suggesting a teacher.  Plus they have arranged some special events for fellowship and outreach beyond Tuesdays.  We are pleased with their participation.

We also want to thank the churches and individuals who have financed or personally brought a meal to The Hedge.  It is always a treat for the students to get something new.  And we enjoy the visit with supporters who care for our little ministry at the university and make the effort to meet with us during our Tuesday night worship.  If you would like to help with next semester, contact Brad who generally plans the eating schedule for The Hedge.

God bless you as you have blessed us.  We appreciate the prayers for God to work through us and in us for the positive benefit of this generation of disciples.  We are thankful for the generous financial support of our churches and individual benefactors.  We pray that God blesses you and keeps you as we enter this season of change.

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them, ‘The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.’ So shall they put My name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”  (Numbers 6:22-27)
